THERAPY
GASW members offer:
- Mixed and single gender analytic therapy groups meeting once or twice weekly. In an analytic therapy group there is an emphasis on the relationships between members and how these can mirror earlier experiences with family and peers, e.g. family, school, play, and work. Our ways of relating can be thought about with others and understood in the here-and-now of the group.
- Individual psychotherapy and counselling (time-limited or open-ended). Individual psychotherapy can concentrate on a particular difficulty or traumatic event. The work, with focus on the origins of a current difficulty, can lead to a greater understanding of how we have come to be as we are.
GASW members also offer:
- Time-limited theme focussed analytic groups, (e.g. a ten week group focussing on bereavement, divorce, or a health issue).
- Task-centred counselling (the focus of the work is to enable the individual to identify and reach a particular goal e.g. to stop smoking, managing a legal dispute).
