INTRODUCTORY COURSE IN THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF GROUP ANALYSIS
In Bristol And Exeter 30 evenings starting on the second Monday in October
These courses are designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the group analytic approach for individuals who are interested and involved in groups, including naturally occurring groups, and for professionals undertaking Continuing Professional Development. They are accredited by both Group Analysis South West and the Institute of Group Analysis, London, and are a pre-requisite to applying for further training in Group Analysis.
In the first session of terms one and two lectures and seminars cover theory and the application of group analysis in various settings. In the third term all participants meet together, with staff, in a Median Group. In the second session, throughout the course, students meet for one and a half hours in experiential groups conducted according to group-analytic principles by experienced Group Analysts. These provide a direct experience of being a member of a group which determines its own therapeutic levels and goals.
The course offers effective training to increase the knowledge and skills of professionals in working with groups. It combines theoretical and experiential learning to provide a model of good practice which can be applied to a wide range of therapeutic settings.
